The first online meeting of the international project COMPASS-LEAD took place on 28 September 2026, bringing together the partner organisations to launch their joint work.
COMPASS-LEAD – Competence-Oriented Model for Professional Action in School Systems: Leadership, Empowerment and Development (Project No. 2026-1-BG01-KA220-SCH-000465029) – is funded by the Erasmus+ programme under Key Action 2. The project is coordinated by the Regional Department of Education – Sofia City. The National Management School (NMS) is a project partner.
The partnership brings together organisations from Bulgaria, Romania, Lithuania, Slovenia and Spain. Over 28 months, the partners will work to strengthen school leadership through a European competence framework for leadership teams, practical training resources and an AI coaching tool. The project will also support professional learning among school leaders and pilot its tools in 60 schools across the partner countries.
NMS contributes its experience in educational leadership, professional development for teachers and school leaders, and the design of practical training methods. Its work includes contributing to the leadership competence framework, developing training resources on topics such as conflict management, parent engagement and continuing professional development, and supporting training and pilot activities in Bulgaria.
At the first meeting, partners introduced their teams and discussed responsibilities, communication and the first project activities. Their upcoming work includes examining policies and practices in the participating countries and mapping current approaches to school leadership. The partners also began preparations for an in-person meeting in Sofia, to be hosted by the Regional Department of Education – Sofia City.
The project runs from 1 September 2026 to 31 December 2028.
