The kick-off meeting of the international COMPASS-LEAD project took place in Sofia, with the National Management School participating as a project partner. The meeting brought together representatives of the partner organisations from Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Lithuania and Spain.

The partners discussed the project work plan, implementation schedule, management arrangements, financial control and quality monitoring. They also shared good practices in school leadership and professional development and agreed on a peer-review process for project materials, ensuring that they are assessed by partners from different national contexts.

COMPASS-LEAD aims to strengthen school leadership across Europe. The project will review national policies and needs, develop a competence framework for school leadership teams, and create practical tools for school leaders. These resources will be piloted in 60 schools across the five partner countries.

Over the next 28 months, NMS will work with the consortium to implement the project activities and develop practical approaches to school leadership.

The project is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme under Key Action 2: Cooperation Partnerships in School Education. The total grant is €400,000, and the project is scheduled to run until 31 December 2028.

The Regional Department of Education – Sofia City is the project coordinator. The partners are the National Management School; the Association of Directors and Deputy Directors of Schools in Slovenia; the Independent Trade Union of Preschool and School Education, Sector 4, Romania; the Lithuanian Education and Science Trade Union; and Asociación Cultural Ateneo de Jerez, Spain.
