In July 2025, AI Navigators: Empowering Teachers for the AI Era, a European Erasmus+ project dedicated to boosting artificial intelligence literacy among secondary school teachers, held a comprehensive in-person training in Sofia, Bulgaria. This key activity brought together selected teacher-navigators from partner countries to deepen their understanding of AI tools and strategies for classroom integration.
The Sofia training focused on practical applications of AI in education, covering topics such as AI-supported lesson design, digital content creation, ethical considerations, and individualized learning approaches. Participants worked collaboratively to explore how AI technologies can enhance student engagement, pedagogical effectiveness, and instructional efficiency.
By completing this stage of the project, the trained AI Navigators are now equipped to serve as mentors and coaches for their colleagues, supporting the pilot implementation of AI methods in classrooms across Europe. Their role contributes to building a community of educators who are confident in integrating AI responsibly and creatively.
This training marks an important milestone in the two-year project’s mission to transform educational practices and foster a network of AI-aware teaching professionals. Through blended learning resources, peer support, and ongoing exchange of innovative practices, AI Navigators continues to empower teachers for the future of education.
