The EmpowerYOUth: Enhancing Youth Mental Wellbeing project has officially launched, bringing together European partners committed to strengthening youth mental wellbeing, resilience, and coping skills. Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, the project aims to equip youth workers with practical tools and competences to support young people aged 14–18 in navigating today’s complex social and emotional challenges.

Young people across Europe increasingly face issues such as stress, anxiety, loneliness, financial worries, school pressure, and the impact of social media. Through EmpowerYOUth, youth workers are supported to engage adolescents in open dialogue on these sensitive topics and to apply structured, evidence-based approaches that foster emotional resilience and healthy coping mechanisms.

The project was officially launched during the first transnational partner meeting, held in Reykjavik, Iceland, where partners from Iceland, Bulgaria, and Italy came together for an intensive two-day workshop. The meeting focused on mapping the needs of young people, youth workers, and parents, reviewing youth survey results identifying key concerns such as financial literacy, loneliness, and school-related stress, and integrating good practices from existing tools, including the BUILD resilience curriculum and the I.You self-coaching wellbeing application.

This initial meeting marked the beginning of a close cross-cultural collaboration that will lead to the development of a comprehensive curriculum and practical resources for youth workers across Europe. Through EmpowerYOUth, partners aim to support youth professionals in helping young people build stronger mental wellbeing, resilience, and long-term coping skills.
